Announcing Eddie Sheppard’s Promotion to Executive Vice President

I’m very pleased to share that Eddie Sheppard has been promoted to Executive Vice President at Abacus Data.
Since joining our team in August 2023, Eddie has had an outsized impact on our work, our thinking, and our growth. He leads our research team with rigour and clarity, setting the standard for quality, insight, and storytelling across the organization.
Eddie brings deep academic and applied expertise to his work. He holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Calgary, and his training shows in the way he approaches research design, analysis, and interpretation. He combines methodological precision with a strong instinct for what matters to clients and audiences.
Eddie is also one of our most important intellectual leaders. He developed what has become one of Abacus’s most widely cited and influential ideas, the concept of the precarity mindset, which has helped clients, media, and policymakers better understand how Canadians are experiencing uncertainty and risk in their lives today.
He leads several of our most critical and fast-growing practice areas, including housing and real estate, financial services, and technology. His ability to connect public opinion, market dynamics, and real-world decision-making has made him a trusted advisor to many of our most important clients.
Beyond his client and thought leadership, Eddie plays a central role in mentoring and developing our junior team members. He is generous with his time, thoughtful in his feedback, and deeply committed to helping others grow. He is also a trusted and valued member of our executive team, contributing to strategic decisions that shape the future of the firm.
Based out of our remote office in London, Ontario, Eddie exemplifies how strong leadership and collaboration can thrive across geographies.
